Is It Worth Installing A Water Cooler?

There can often be plenty of resistance when the idea of installing a water cooler in your office or your home is first floated: It will cost too much. No one will use it. There’ll be too much upkeep on it. But there are plenty of positives that come with getting a water cooler – from the health benefits to the cost savings. Here are just a few reasons why it’s totally worth it.

1. They’re cheap to run

In the grand scheme of everyday business expenses, a water cooler is relatively cheap to run. In fact, they don’t use that much electricity and you could get the most use out of your water cooler, Monday to Friday, for less than 10p a day. Plus, every water cooler is rented with no upfront cost and a minimal cost service and maintenance package for your bottle and refills.

2. They give you hot water too

A water cooler isn’t just for cool or ambient water - you can choose models that give you near-boiling water as well – ideal for making the office tea and coffee rounds or lunchtime snacks. But while the daily running cost for hot water may be more than the 10p a day quoted above, it’s still cheaper than repeatedly boiling the kettle.

3. They have a small footprint

Tight for space? No problem. Our water coolers don’t need much space to give you the cool, refreshing water you need. With an average footprint of around a foot wide (12”/30cm) our mains fed water coolers or bottled water coolers can fit into the tightest spaces. We even have compact countertop models to fit on kitchen worktops or an office desk.

4. They keep everyone hydrated

Great tasting water benefits everyone and helps the whole office stay happy and hydrated. If you’ve never had a water cooler before, it might be a bit of a novelty at first, but it will get everyone into the habit of drinking the recommended 6-8 glasses a day. And water has plenty of health benefits too, from healthier skin, heart, and digestion to increased mental and physical energy.

5. They give you pure filtered water

Every drop of our bottled water comes directly from our own spring in Shropshire to give you pure, naturally filtered water with its own blend of essential minerals and a uniquely sweet taste. Even if you choose a mains fed water cooler, each model comes with a built-in advanced water cooler filtration system, removing contaminants, chlorine, and microplastics, leaving you with purer water.

6. They’re easy to clean and refill

With Thirsty Work, you get a full service and maintenance package to take care of any ongoing maintenance, cleaning, and sanitisation of your water cooler – inside and out. So how often do they need to be cleaned? Day to day, to keep those high-touch areas like taps and cups dispensers clean and safe, just use a food-safe sanitising wipe – we’ll take care of the rest. The only other thing you need to do is to replace the water bottle.
